Anya Chappell, a 21-year-old fitness influencer with a significant social media following, has been widely condemned for a vile racist rant she posted online. The incident occurred in Sunderland, where Chappell was filmed walking through the town center wearing a Sunderland shirt and shouting offensive racial slurs. The clip, initially posted on Snapchat, quickly spread to other platforms, drawing widespread criticism.

Following the online backlash, Les Ojugbana, owner of Fitness 2000, a Sunderland gym previously associated with Chappell, issued a statement distancing his business from her remarks. Ojugbana, identifying as Nigerian, stated that Chappell no longer works at the facility and that he does not condone her "vile and disgusting" comments. However, he also appealed for restraint and understanding, emphasizing that Chappell is a young person who may have made a drunken mistake and could learn from the experience, cautioning against severe social media attacks.

The incident resonated within the Sunderland football community, with supporters displaying a "Show Racism The Red Card" banner at a recent match. Other fans have also spoken out against Chappell's behavior, calling for continued efforts to address racism within the fanbase.
