Authorities in Vadodara, India, are initiating the extradition process for Jay Dayal, a businessman residing in Fiji. Dayal is accused of ordering the murder attempt of Ashish Bakoliya, a 37-year-old businessman from Vadodara. Investigations suggest a financial dispute was the motive, stemming from their past association in Fiji where Bakoliya worked as a financial manager for Dayal's company.
Dayal allegedly paid Rs 80,000 to his employee, Vikram Pratap Singh, to execute the contract killing. Vikram then hired Gurjeet alias Gurmeet Singh Bhatti from Chhattisgarh. The duo reportedly made seven to eight unsuccessful attempts on Bakoliya's life, who was often accompanied by others. They even traveled from Chhattisgarh to Vadodara on a motorbike for these attempts.
On the night of June 26, Vikram and Gurjeet found an opportunity when Bakoliya was traveling alone. Gurjeet fired a shot that struck Bakoliya in the shoulder, narrowly missing vital organs. Bakoliya was hospitalized, and doctors took three days to remove the bullet. Police apprehended Vikram in Chhattisgarh before he could leave India, and he is being interrogated for further evidence against Dayal.
