Authorities have apprehended a fifth suspect in connection with an alleged arson incident targeting Jewish community ambulances. The suspect, an 18-year-old from east London, is scheduled to appear in court on June 16, facing charges of assisting an offender.
This arrest follows an incident on the early morning of March 23 in Golders Green, north London, where four ambulances belonging to the Jewish charity Hatzola were set ablaze. The fire caused gas canisters within the vehicles to explode, leading to extensive damage estimated at £1 million. Nearby residential flats and a synagogue also sustained damage.
Previously, three men and a juvenile were charged with committing arson and endangering life. They are slated to stand trial in January, with a further court appearance scheduled for August 28 at the Old Bailey.
