- A man with a prior murder conviction was arrested in the operation.
- Authorities seized a kilogram of fentanyl, THC, and other drugs.

Galveston County authorities dismantled a "full-service drug operation" allegedly run by Jahml McDonald, 50, a Texas City resident with a prior murder conviction. The County Organized Crime Task Force raided a home on Appomattox Drive on August 18th, following a two-month investigation.
During the raid, law enforcement seized about one kilogram of fentanyl pills, which were brightly colored and disguised to resemble ecstasy. Other seized items included THC wax, marijuana, promethazine, and dozens of bottles of liquor. The operation is particularly concerning as it was located near Giles Middle School, College of the Mainland, and two elementary schools.
Surveillance reportedly captured images of individuals, appearing to be minors, purchasing drugs from the residence. Galveston Police Chief Doug Balli described the operation as a "convenience store for poison." McDonald, who was out on bond for a pending marijuana case at the time of his arrest, faces felony controlled-substance charges and was held on a combined $2 million bond.
Galveston County District Attorney Kenneth Cusick pledged to seek maximum prosecution, citing McDonald's extensive criminal history, including a murder conviction and previous drug offenses. Residents near the home reported heavy foot and vehicle traffic, with one neighbor expressing concerns about potential gunfire due to the drug dealing activity.
