Summary
- Grandfather vanished from home in March 2025, reported missing later.
- Over $1 million drained from bank accounts through fraud.
- FBI now treating disappearance as a suspected kidnapping.

Federal authorities, including the FBI, are now involved in the search for 74-year-old Nai Ping Hou, who disappeared from his Rancho Cucamonga home in March 2025. Initially reported missing on May 4, the case is now being investigated as a suspected kidnapping. Evidence indicates extensive fraudulent activity occurred in Hou's bank accounts around the time of his disappearance, with over $1 million drained through unauthorized transactions, including purchases of gold and cryptocurrency.
Investigators suspect Hou may have been targeted due to his family's substantial wealth in cryptocurrency. His son, Wen Hou, a hedge fund executive, noted unusual communication patterns and a cold birthday message from his father's phone before his disappearance. Hou's vehicles were sold, and an attempt was made to rent out his home. His wife was abroad visiting family in China and received messages suggesting she delay her return. Authorities are also seeking information about a silver Toyota Yaris connected to the case. A reward of up to $250,000 is offered for information leading to his safe return or the arrest of those responsible.
