New court filings are surfacing details about the FBI's investigation into the death of Anna Kepner, a high school senior whose body was found on a Carnival cruise ship. An emergency motion filed this week requests the court prevent Kepner's mother from testifying at this stage, due to concerns the FBI might pursue a criminal case involving one of her minor children.
Kepner was discovered deceased on November 8 aboard a cruise that had departed from Miami. The FBI has not publicly indicated that charges are forthcoming, and no charges have been filed to date. This legal petition was lodged in Brevard County, where Kepner resided prior to her cruise.
Kepner, a student at Temple Christian School, had aspirations of joining the U.S. Navy post-graduation. Her obituary highlighted her passion for sports and a dream of cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday, as the FBI's active investigation continues.
