FBI: All Nancy Guthrie Ransom Notes Are Fake

The FBI has officially determined that all three notes associated with the disappearance and suspected kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie are not genuine. This assessment includes two ransom notes delivered to media outlets in February and a third message from last week claiming knowledge of her abductors' identities.

Initially, the first two notes were considered credible, partly due to similar language and originating from the same IP address. However, the FBI's investigation, which included attempting to retrieve cryptocurrency from an account linked to a note, led them to conclude these were sent by someone unconnected to the abduction.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, vanished from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on the evening of January 31 and has not been seen since. Evidence such as blood on her doorstep, identified as hers, led investigators to believe she was taken against her will. The case has garnered significant public attention, including intervention from Donald Trump.

The FBI's determination that the notes are fake raises questions about the initial assumption of a ransom motive. The family has continued to offer a $1 million reward for Nancy's return, expressing ongoing distress over the situation.

The investigation is still active, with the Pima County sheriff's department stating that forensic analysis of evidence is ongoing. The third message, claiming to know the abductors' identities, was also deemed inauthentic by the FBI.
