- Mother described arguing with father before the shooting.
- First responders' bodycam video showed the chaotic scene.

The trial of Mark Jones, accused of murdering his 4-year-old son Jacobi on Christmas Eve 2024, continued with the mother, Promyss Marcelle, taking the stand. She detailed a tumultuous argument with Jones on December 23, stemming from co-parenting disputes and unpaid child support. Marcelle testified that police officers, who responded to her call that night, allowed Jones to remain in the home as she lacked the means to obtain a restraining order.
During her testimony, Marcelle described Jones's behavior as increasingly erratic and frightening, noting his banging on walls and furniture. She recounted how her son Jacobi asked his father to leave, after which Jones retrieved a firearm. Marcelle was shot in the back of the head, and subsequently fled the apartment to seek help, hearing two more gunshots and a man's scream as she escaped.
First responders, including a Baltimore County Police Officer and a homicide detective, also testified. Body-worn camera footage revealed the officers' entry into the apartment, showing an emotional scene with family members reacting to the events. Jones, who sustained a gunshot wound to the face, was present in the video and attempted to answer officers' questions despite his injuries.
