A disturbing discovery occurred in Kanpur on Dhanteras when a woman, Archana, went to visit her father, Prem Prakash Srivastava. Upon entering his flat in Ratanpur, she found her 82-year-old father deceased, with his body showing signs of decomposition and estimated to be five to seven days old. Her 45-year-old brother, Vijay Srivastava, who is mentally challenged, was found sitting near the body.
Police were alerted and the body was sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The flat was found in a very poor state, with scattered belongings, rotten food, and dirty utensils, indicating neglect. The father and son lived alone, with the father reportedly cooking for his son due to his condition. Prem Prakash Srivastava, who previously ran a private clinic, is survived by his son Vijay and three daughters.
