2 May
Summary
- Newborn suffered skull fracture and brain bleeding.
- Father's explanation of accident contradicted medical evidence.
- Man convicted of child abuse resulting in death.

An Aurora man, Hector Alexandro Delarosa, has been found guilty of killing his 10-day-old daughter in 2024. The infant was rushed to Children's Hospital Colorado with severe injuries, including a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and a fractured femur. These injuries were later determined by a coroner to be the result of blunt force trauma.
Delarosa initially told investigators that the baby may have been injured accidentally during a bath. However, medical experts found this explanation inconsistent with the severity of the infant's injuries. His account to investigators reportedly changed multiple times throughout the investigation.
After a seven-day trial, a jury convicted Delarosa of child abuse resulting in death. His sentencing is slated for June 29. Deputy District Attorney Tory Reavis stated that the conviction ensures accountability for the death of a defenseless newborn.
