A 38-year-old father, Gareth Stark, has admitted to the unlawful killing of his infant son. Stark pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday. The tragic incident involved three-month-old Leon Stark, who died eight days after being hospitalized.
Leon became unwell at a house in Stafford on October 12, 2023, and was subsequently taken to the hospital. Investigations revealed he suffered a head injury caused by his father. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Stark also pleaded guilty to battery.
Detective Inspector Lisa Holland stated that the case is deeply tragic and extended condolences to all affected. Staffordshire Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to child protection and prevention of similar incidents. Stark is scheduled for sentencing later this year at Stafford Crown Court.
