Teen Charged in Fatal Walmart Parking Lot Shooting

Stephen Morrow, 46, was fatally shot on June 3 following an incident that investigators say originated at a local Walmart in Sumiton, Alabama. The confrontation began inside the store when Morrow accidentally bumped into a teenager with a shopping cart, sparking a verbal argument that involved Timothy Braden Crawford, 18.

Investigators testified that Crawford allegedly followed Morrow and his wife after they left the store. The dispute moved to the parking lot of a nearby restaurant, where Morrow reportedly approached Crawford's truck and broke a passenger-side window before reaching inside. Crawford then allegedly shot Morrow in the chest.

Crawford was arrested and charged with murder. During a June 9 court hearing, a judge set his bond at $250,000 cash only, with conditions including home confinement and a ban on possessing firearms. The defense argued self-defense, but investigators noted a significant time lapse between the initial store encounter and the shooting. Morrow was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital. His funeral was held on Monday, and a GoFundMe has been established to support his family, particularly his young son, Eli, with funeral costs and future security. The case remains under investigation.
