- Court ordered trial for fatal Dec 2024 Mahindra Thar crash.
- Accident killed father and daughter, injured mother.

A North Goa court has ordered a trial for Wilson De Araujo in connection with a fatal December 2024 Mahindra Thar crash. The incident resulted in the deaths of Rajesh Naik and his minor daughter, Shravi, and grievous injuries to Ranjana Naik, Shravi's mother, who lost a leg.
De Araujo faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash and negligent driving. The accident occurred near Vishal Mini Mart, Agasaim, when the Thar allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane while overtaking, striking a scooter and dragging its occupants.
During proceedings, the defence argued for a lesser charge, citing lack of premeditation and disputing the alcohol estimation report. However, the court, reviewing CCTV footage and the scene of offence panchanama, noted the Thar was "totally on its wrong side of the road." Skid marks and the manner of overtaking indicated the driver's knowledge that the action was likely to cause death, leading to the decision to proceed with the trial.
