Investigators on Long Island are treating the death of 33-year-old fashion designer Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra as a homicide. She was discovered lifeless on August 5 aboard a boat at the Montauk Yacht Club. Initial reports indicated she was found unconscious, but authorities later determined she had been deceased for hours.
While an official cause of death is pending for the Irish native, preliminary findings suggest she was a recent victim of violence. Nolan-O'Slatarra was the founder of the sustainable resort wear brand East x East and also launched Brand Growth Consultants. She had relocated to New York City in 2015.
Sources indicate Nolan-O'Slatarra was set to meet with investor Christopher Durnan, 60, to discuss a potential business deal for her brand. Durnan's lawyer has stated their meeting was strictly business, though admitted they had previously dated. Durnan claims he was with Nolan-O'Slatarra on the boat when she became unresponsive.
