Relatives of Jamar Byrd Jr. are seeking community support following the 17-year-old's death from a stabbing. The incident occurred on June 30 in the parking lot of the Ivy Square Apartments in Bridgeton. Investigators have arrested Kavon Underwood-Palmer, 19, also of Bridgeton, in relation to the stabbing.
Underwood-Palmer faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. Byrd Jr., the oldest of seven children, had recently celebrated his 17th birthday. His father remembers him as a caring and respectful young man.
The family has established a GoFundMe to help them relocate from Bridgeton. They aim to move to a safer environment, away from the location of the tragedy, to facilitate healing for their children. Donations will assist with urgent relocation expenses and rebuilding their lives.
