A shocking case of premeditated murder and fetal abduction has emerged in Wexford County, where a mother and stepfather stand accused of a brutal crime. Cortney Bartholomew and Bradly Bartholomew allegedly researched and planned the murder of Rebecca Park, 22, who was 38 weeks pregnant. They are charged with luring Park to their home, forcing her into a car, and driving her to the northern Michigan woods.
In the woods, the couple allegedly forced Park to the ground and stabbed her, cutting her baby from her womb, resulting in the deaths of both mother and child. Authorities discovered Park's body in the Huron-Manistee National Forest on November 25, but the baby was not present. The Wexford County Prosecutor described the acts as "evil personified."
The community has rallied around the victims, with many attending the arraignment to support "Rebecca's voice." Additional charges were filed against Rebecca's sister for tampering with evidence and against her fiancé for drug crimes. Cortney Bartholomew's attorney requested home confinement due to disability, but the judge denied bond for both accused.
