Hyderabad Police Probe Fake Voter List Scandal Involving Celebrities
17 Oct
Summary
- Fake voter list with doctored photos of actors circulated on social media
- Police case registered for forgery and public mischief
- Authorities warn against sharing unverified electoral information

On October 17, 2025, a fake voter list carrying the names and photographs of Bollywood actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Rakul Preet Singh surfaced on social media in Hyderabad. The Madhura Nagar Police have since registered a case after election officials confirmed that the viral entries were fabricated using doctored images and forged voter ID details.
According to the complaint filed by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, the posts falsely claimed that the actors were registered voters at the same address in Hyderabad, using manipulated Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers. Authorities stated that the misinformation appeared to be part of a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and misuse official electoral information.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has warned that sharing or forwarding unverified information could invite legal action. Officials have urged voters to rely only on verified information from the Election Commission's official platforms, especially with the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll scheduled for November 11, 2025, with counting on November 14.
