In Azamgarh, India, authorities apprehended a man identified as Awadhesh Yadav for impersonating a police officer and extorting motorcyclists. The incident occurred in the Saraimir area where Yadav allegedly stopped riders under the guise of helmet checks, then demanded money. One victim reported being robbed of Rs 3,000 from his wallet.
Responding to a formal complaint, police successfully intercepted Yadav on Shahpur Road. During interrogation, he confessed to his fraudulent activities. The police also confiscated Rs 12,900 in cash from his possession. Investigations revealed that Yadav, a resident of Mojrapur, has a significant criminal record with 13 pending cases filed against him in various police stations across Azamgarh and Mau districts.
