Ghaziabad police have successfully dismantled a large-scale racket involved in the manufacturing of counterfeit Himalaya Liv.52 tablets. The operation was initiated after the pharmaceutical company Himalaya Wellness filed a formal complaint on January 3rd, alleging the widespread supply of fake products to local vendors.
During a technical investigation, police identified individuals involved in the counterfeit operation. These individuals confessed to having the fake Liv.52 tablets manufactured by a company located in Haryana. The packaging materials, including wrappers and boxes, were reportedly produced in Meerut.
Authorities seized approximately 50,000 counterfeit tablets that were produced in Haryana and distributed to various local shops. The investigation revealed that the production cost for a box of fake medicine was between ₹35 and ₹40, which was then sold for ₹110-115. This pricing strategy made the counterfeit products attractive to retailers, especially when compared to the genuine product's maximum retail price of ₹280 per box.
