Fake GST Network Busted in Lucknow: Four Arrested

The Lucknow crime branch, in collaboration with Hasanganj police, has dismantled an organized network suspected of generating fake GST firms and illicit input tax credit (ITC). Four individuals were apprehended on Saturday as part of an intensified operation against GST evasion within the Lucknow Police commissionerate.
The arrested individuals, identified as Vaibhav Singh (BTech graduate), Mohammad Arsan (BCom), Vikas Kumar Mishra (BA-LLB), and Mohammad Sakib (BA), were found in possession of six mobile phones. Their alleged scheme involved creating bogus GST entities and passing on fraudulent ITC through paper transactions.
An investigation was triggered by a complaint on August 30, 2025, regarding Ghanshyam Enterprises. Scrutiny revealed irregularities, including the use of forged documents to facilitate transactions and claim ITC without any genuine business operations. The estimated loss to the government exchequer due to this network's activities amounts to ₹27.3 lakh.
