In Lucknow, Naka police apprehended a man identified as Arjun Kumar for allegedly impersonating a Crime Branch officer. The arrest followed a complaint filed on March 24 by Rais, a resident of Hussainganj in Unnao.
Rais reported that while visiting a shrine near Charbagh railway station, an unidentified woman spoke to him briefly. Shortly thereafter, Kumar approached him, identifying himself as a Crime Branch officer and initiating a false accusation of misbehavior with the woman.
Kumar threatened Rais with jail time unless he paid Rs 50,000 to resolve the fabricated issue. Frightened, Rais provided Rs 2,500 from his wallet before the accused fled the scene.
Upon receiving the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation, leading to Kumar's arrest on Saturday. Further legal actions are currently in progress.
