Police Investigate Fake Bomb Threats at Tamil Celebrities' Homes

On October 27, 2025, police in Chennai responded to bomb threats targeting the homes of popular Tamil actors Rajinikanth and Dhanush. The threats were made in an email sent to the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police (DGP) office, which also mentioned the home of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Sevalperunthagai.

Authorities quickly deployed bomb detection and disposal squads to the locations mentioned in the email, conducting thorough security checks at each site. However, police investigations revealed no suspicious items at any of the addresses. Following the searches, officials confirmed that no actual threat existed. Rajinikanth's security team informed the police that no unidentified person had entered the house, indicating the threat was a hoax.

The Chennai City Police, in coordination with the bomb squad, extended their checks to other individuals named in the email. After a comprehensive sweep, no explosives were found, and the police determined the incident to be another in a series of recent hoaxes targeting Tamil celebrities and politicians.

These bomb threat incidents are part of a wider pattern that has seen several public figures in Tamil Nadu, including actors Trisha Krishnan and S Ve Sekher, as well as music composer Ilaiyaraaja, targeted by similar unfounded warnings in recent weeks. In each case, law enforcement has concluded that the threats were not credible.
