A significant counterfeit military uniform supply network has been uncovered in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district through a joint operation by Indian Army intelligence and local police. The investigation led to the seizure of approximately 1,000 meters of unauthorized Army-pattern combat cloth from various shops.
The probe was triggered by the seizure of similar counterfeit material in Bareilly during June. Investigators successfully traced the source of this fabric to Sriganganagar, prompting a discreet inquiry by Army intelligence that pinpointed a local firm as a key distributor.
Officials suspect this firm supplied the fake Army-pattern cloth to vendors in Sriganganagar town and surrounding markets like Lalgarh Jattan and Suratgarh. Following an interim report shared by Army intelligence in mid-July, a coordinated raid was conducted on July 30, resulting in the substantial recovery of the unauthorized fabric.
The possession and sale of such military-pattern cloth are illegal and pose a serious security threat. The counterfeit material could be used for impersonating armed forces personnel, potentially facilitating unlawful activities. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the network and its distribution reach beyond Rajasthan.
