49ers Imposter Scammed 26 Women Out of $1.3M

Two men have been arrested for allegedly defrauding over two dozen women out of more than $1.3 million in a scam that spanned at least four years. Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, are facing felony charges including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Investigators revealed that Love used dating apps and social media to target victims starting in February 2022. He allegedly presented himself as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, even faking social media posts with team equipment to project an image of wealth. Love and Chan reportedly created fake financial documents to deceive victims into believing they had millions invested.

Some victims became suspicious and searched online, with search engines and AI occasionally validating Love's false claims. Both the NFL and the 49ers confirmed Love had no affiliation with them. Love also used aliases, including claims of a connection to Jordan Love and posing as a wealthy Swiss real estate investor.

Authorities found Love made purchases from sites selling custom helmets, fake money, and social media engagement services to bolster his online persona. He allegedly developed romantic relationships with victims to encourage fake investments. One victim lost over $87,000, while another reported threats when she refused to send savings. Love and Chan were arrested at Boise Airport while allegedly en route to meet new targets. The FBI believes many more victims may exist and encourages anyone affected to come forward.
