Summary
- Woman sought $10,000 from fake player for investment scam.
- She created a Facebook group to locate him.
- Federal investigators accuse him of defrauding 26 women.
In a case involving alleged fraud, a woman named Gwendolynn Rose Herndon pursued a $10,000 lawsuit against Daejon Love, who she claims posed as a 49ers player. Herndon accused Love of soliciting $7,000 for an investment and taking an additional $3,000 in cash. Court documents revealed Herndon's difficulties in serving Love with legal papers, stating he lacked a permanent address and used hotels to evade justice.
To circumvent Love's evasion tactics, Herndon created a Facebook group consisting of his alleged victims. This group reportedly assisted in locating him. She also petitioned the court for permission to serve him electronically via platforms like Instagram and text messages. Ultimately, the court awarded Herndon just over $10,000.
Meanwhile, federal investigators are reportedly looking into Love for allegedly posing as a 49ers player and wealthy investor. They accuse him of romance-scamming 26 women across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California, allegedly defrauding them of approximately $1.3 million. This civil lawsuit appears to be one woman's separate effort to recover funds from the accused fraudster.
