Priest Attacked Over Loud Music, Not Molestation Claim
28 Sep
Summary
- A viral video falsely claimed a priest was assaulted for molestation.
- The incident involved loud devotional music played during a program.
- Jaipur police confirmed neighbours attacked the priest over noise.
A video circulating on social media, allegedly showing a priest being assaulted for molesting a minor daughter, has been fact-checked and found to be misleading. The incident, which occurred in Jaipur, India, actually involved a dispute over loud devotional music being played during a religious program.
Reports indicate that neighbours complained to the priest, Pandit Ramkrishna, about the excessive volume. An argument escalated into a physical altercation on September 25, with the accused family members allegedly assaulting the priest. Police subsequently arrested two individuals, Harish and Devansh, on charges of disturbing the peace. The accused family also filed their own report.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no allegations of molestation. The assault was solely related to the disturbance caused by the loud devotional music. Investigations determined the viral claim of molestation to be false, with the core issue being a neighbourhood conflict over noise levels.
