Northamptonshire Police have successfully apprehended six individuals utilizing live facial recognition (LFR) camera technology across key towns. The innovative system was deployed on select dates in late November and early December within Northampton, Kettering, and Wellingborough.
The strategic use of LFR cameras proved effective in identifying and apprehending suspects wanted for a range of offenses. Authorities reported that four arrests were made concerning individuals sought for issues such as shoplifting and immigration violations, alongside a more serious charge of sexual assault.
Further arrests included two individuals found to be in violation of existing sexual harm prevention orders. Detective Chief Superintendent Rich Tompkins conveyed strong satisfaction with the positive results generated by the LFR cameras, highlighting their effectiveness in enhancing public safety and law enforcement efforts.
