Summary
- Former Wallaby Barry Lea faces multiple domestic violence charges.
- Lea is accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
- He was granted bail under strict conditions in Brisbane.

Former Wallabies player Barry Lea, 54, was granted bail in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 26. He faces charges including common assault, deprivation of liberty, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Prosecutors alleged Lea attempted to influence the complainant to withdraw charges while under strict no-contact bail conditions. He had previously been arrested in August 2025 and released on bail, which he allegedly breached multiple times by contacting Ms Sullivan. Lea was sentenced earlier this month to four months' jail, time served, for five breaches of bail and a separate alleged stalking offence.
Magistrate Lewis Shillito granted bail, imposing strict conditions. Lea must live with his sister in Hervey Bay, report to police three times weekly, wear an ankle monitor, and have no contact with the complainant. He is also restricted from travelling south of Strathpine without approval. The matter was adjourned to May 15.
Lea, who played for the Wallabies in 1993 and represented Queensland, also had a stint in rugby league with the Newcastle Knights before playing professionally in England. He later appeared on Australian Survivor in 2016.
