Ex-Cop's Gross Misconduct: Violent Video, Offensive Messages
30 Jul
Summary
- Former officer shared violent video depicting death.
- Officer sent inappropriate and discriminatory messages.
- Resignation prevented formal dismissal for gross misconduct.

A former member of Northamptonshire Police has been found to have committed gross misconduct following incidents between June and December 2020. The officer, who has since resigned, shared a video depicting extreme violence and sent messages deemed inappropriate and discriminatory.
During the investigation, it was also alleged the former officer failed to challenge or report colleagues for using similar offensive language. The disciplinary panel determined that the proven allegations, including discriminatory conduct towards females and individuals with disabilities, warranted severe disciplinary action.
Had the former officer not resigned from the force during the investigation, the panel stated he would have faced dismissal. The findings concluded the majority of allegations against him were proven to the level of gross misconduct.
