As of November 16, 2025, former NFL star Antonio Brown is facing a potentially lengthy prison sentence after being charged with attempted murder. The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred this past May following a celebrity boxing event in Miami.
According to reports, Brown was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Dubai on November 6 and extradited back to the United States. He was initially held at a correctional facility in New Jersey before being transferred to Florida. After spending two days in jail, Brown was released on Thursday, November 16 after posting a $25,000 bond.
However, if convicted, Brown could face a minimum of 20 years in prison under Florida's 10-20-Life law. The law mandates a minimum 20-year sentence for crimes involving the discharge of a firearm. Prosecutors allege that Brown grabbed a handgun from a security staffer after a boxing match and fired two shots at a man he had a previous altercation with, grazing the victim's neck.
Brown has pleaded not guilty, claiming he was acting in self-defense. The former NFL wide receiver, who won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, is currently under house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor as his case proceeds.
