Summary
- Samantha Scott received probation for accessory charge.
- Her testimony was crucial in convicting Dan Serafini.
- Serafini is serving life without parole for the killings.

Samantha Scott, who had an affair with former MLB player Dan Serafini, has received a two-year probation sentence. This comes after she pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the 2021 homicides of Serafini's in-laws, Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, in Placer County Court.
This sentence was part of a deal with prosecutors, requiring Scott to provide crucial testimony during Serafini's murder trial last summer. She admitted to driving Serafini to Lake Tahoe on the day of the shootings and later confessed to him admitting he shot his mother-in-law twice in the head.
Scott maintained her silence about the confession and her involvement until after she and Serafini were arrested in November 2023. Once charged with murder, she agreed to testify against Serafini, who is now serving multiple life sentences without parole.
Investigators initially questioned Scott in November 2021. Cell phone records placed her vehicle near the victims' Homewood, California residence on the day of the murders, bolstering the case against Serafini.
Scott's testimony was pivotal, supported by surveillance footage showing her and Serafini together the night before the shootings. Prosecutors contended Serafini, believed to be motivated by a $23 million inheritance, carried out the murders after being driven to the victims' property by Scott.
