Ex-Fiancé's Twisted Revenge Plot Unraveled

Michelle Hadley's relationship with U.S. Marshal Ian Diaz started like a fairy tale in the summer of 2013, including a first date at Disneyland. The couple became engaged and purchased a condo in Anaheim, California, with plans for Hadley to cover the down payment and Diaz to assist with mortgage payments.

However, the idyllic image shattered when Diaz installed surveillance cameras in their home to monitor Hadley. By August 2015, Hadley ended the engagement, but Diaz refused to accept the breakup, initiating a revenge plot as they contested ownership of the condo.

In February 2016, Diaz married Angela Connell and moved her into the condo. Soon after, Connell began receiving threatening emails signed 'LilithIsTruth.' Connell falsely claimed pregnancy and, along with Diaz, accused Hadley of sending the emails and impersonating Connell on Craigslist to arrange dangerous encounters.

These accusations led to Hadley's arrest in July 2016, charged with stalking and sexual assault threats, facing a potential life sentence. While awaiting trial, evidence surfaced revealing Diaz as the true perpetrator behind the 'Lilith' persona and the framing of Hadley.

Diaz's elaborate scheme involved using false identities and multiple computers to impersonate Hadley online. Although Connell was complicit, Diaz later implicated her, leading to her guilty plea in 2017 for 10 felony counts and a five-year prison sentence.

An investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice eventually uncovered Diaz's guilt. In 2023, he was convicted of stalking, perjury, and obstruction of justice and is currently serving a 10-year federal prison sentence in Texas.

Hadley did not recover her down payment but regained her freedom. She is now a single mother to her 3-year-old daughter, continuing her marketing career, and advocating for domestic abuse survivors.
