The trial of a 31-year-old former police officer, Beau Lamarre-Condon, commenced in Sydney's supreme court, where he has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder. Prosecutors contend that Lamarre-Condon harbored an infatuation and obsession with one of the victims, Jesse Baird, which escalated after Baird ceased contact.
Allegations suggest Lamarre-Condon meticulously planned the murders, researching sound suppression and acquiring a surfboard bag for body disposal. On February 19, 2026, he allegedly donned an Uber Eats disguise and used a key to enter Baird's Paddington home, fatally shooting Baird and his partner, Luke Davies.
The bodies of Baird and Davies were discovered approximately 200 kilometers away in Bungonia, eight days after the shootings, after an unsuccessful attempt to submerge them in a dam. The court, which was filled with media and the victims' families, is expected to continue the trial for two to three months.
