Coleen Lamarre, 63, the mother of a former police officer charged with the murders of Luke Davies and Jesse Baird, has been arrested. Lamarre was charged with perverting the course of justice for allegedly trying to influence a key witness in her son's trial. She previously worked for NSW police and was refused bail, set to appear in court.
Her son, Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, is accused of fatally shooting Baird, 26, and Davies, 29, approximately two years ago. The couple's bodies were discovered on February 27, 2024, concealed in surfboard bags at a rural property near Goulburn. Lamarre-Condon, who was dismissed from the New South Wales police force shortly after the alleged murders, is currently in custody.
Lamarre-Condon, who joined the force in 2019, previously had a high-profile defense lawyer before Legal Aid withdrew. His trial is anticipated to commence in September and last for two to three months. The alleged murders occurred prior to Mardi Gras, prompting the event's board to request police not march in the parade, although police did participate in plainclothes. Former Police Commissioner Karen Webb faced criticism for calling the case a "crime of passion," later apologizing and clarifying her intent was to differentiate it from a gay hate crime.
