In December 2025, a violent confrontation occurred on an Orange County street, leaving bullet holes visible on a fence and the involved home. Angelo Portelli, 41, formerly a Customs and Border Protection agent, is accused of firing his agency-issued handgun during the incident.
Investigators allege Portelli and his wife disguised themselves before confronting an individual at a home. A physical altercation reportedly led to gunfire, damaging the residence, a parked vehicle, and a nearby fence. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
Following an investigation utilizing surveillance footage and cell phone records, Portelli was identified. He was arrested in New York and extradited to Orange County, where he is being held without bond. He admitted to being in Florida but claimed he fired in self-defense.
