Epstein Cell Guards Filmed Loitering During Death Watch
21 Mar
Summary
- Guards were seen on surveillance footage instead of performing cell checks.
- Warning notices indicated Epstein required constant check-ins after suicide watch.
- Charges against the guards were dropped, but one testified before Congress.

Surveillance footage recently surfaced, appearing to show prison guards neglecting their duties on the night Jeffrey Epstein died. The video captures correctional officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas at Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center around 3:15 AM. They were observed writing on paper, pacing, and using a phone instead of conducting required checks on Epstein, who was housed just steps away.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide between August 9 and August 10, 2026. The officers' alleged failure to perform mandatory rounds, including those at 3 AM and 5 AM, is highlighted by the footage. Bright-orange warning notices on their computers alerted them that Epstein had recently been taken off suicide watch and needed constant monitoring.
One notice explicitly stated, "Mandatory rounds must be conducted every 30 minutes on Epstein, as per God!!!" Noel and Thomas were accused of falsifying logs to suggest they had checked on Epstein. Although they were fired, criminal charges against them were dropped in 2021. However, Officer Noel was recently called to testify before the Congressional House Oversight Committee regarding the incident.
