Healer's ₹48 Lakh Scam Leaves Engineer Kidney Damaged

A Bengaluru software engineer has filed a police complaint against a self-proclaimed healer identified as 'Vijay Guruji,' owner of Vijayalaxmi Ayurvedic Shop. The engineer alleges he was defrauded of approximately ₹48 lakh through the sale of exorbitant and potentially harmful medicines for sexual health issues.

The victim sought treatment for sexual health problems after his marriage in 2023. He was drawn in by an advertisement for quick solutions and was directed to Guruji, who prescribed expensive Ayurvedic medicines like Devaraj Booti and Bhavan Booti oil, demanding cash payments. The engineer spent over ₹17 lakh initially.

Further pressure led the engineer to take out loans totaling ₹30 lakh to purchase more of the costly medicines. Despite adhering strictly to the prescribed treatment, he experienced no improvement and subsequently developed severe kidney damage. When he confronted Guruji, he was reportedly threatened with further health risks if he discontinued the treatment.
