Rangamma was found in a helpless state in Udupi approximately one month prior to her reunion. She was initially sheltered at the Sakhi Centre before being transferred to Hosabelaku Ashram.
Collaborative efforts between the Udupi Women's police station and the Senior Citizens' Helpline led to the identification of her son in Telangana. Police personnel traveled to Telangana to locate him, subsequently bringing him to Udupi. At the helpline centre, the son was briefed on his legal duties under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, ensuring he understood his responsibility to care for his mother. He pledged to provide adequate care and prevent future occurrences.
The successful reunion saw Rangamma discharged from the ashram and returned to her son's care. The legal aspects of the case were finalized, concluding a process guided by senior police officials and supported by the ashram's director.
