In Knox County, Tennessee, Misty McDaniel, 42, was arrested on January 17th, facing charges of aggravated neglect resulting in serious bodily injury to an elderly or vulnerable adult. The allegations state that McDaniel, along with her husband, neglected her 74-year-old father for approximately six months.
Her father, who had been bed-bound for a decade following a stroke, allegedly developed severe pressure ulcerations and bed sores. These wounds were so extensive that medical staff discovered exposed bones, including three vertebrae, and necrotic tissue requiring surgical removal.
During a hospital visit on January 2nd, the father was found to have a critically high blood sugar level exceeding 600, a condition that could have led to a diabetic coma. Police also reportedly found unused diabetic medication at the residence.
