2 May
Summary
- Couple arrested for decades-old murders in quiet farming town.
- Alice convicted of killing her third husband; Gerald for ex-wife and sons.
- Confessions revealed dark secrets after decades of hiding.

In the quiet farming town of Chadwick, Missouri, the seemingly ordinary lives of Gerald and Alice Uden were shattered by arrests for decades-old murders. Alice, 74, was taken into custody on September 26, 2013, accused of killing her third husband, Ronald Holtz, in Wyoming. His remains were discovered in August 2013, nearly 40 years after he was shot and killed.
Just one day later, Gerald, 71, was arrested, accused of murdering his ex-wife, Virginia Uden, and her two sons, aged 10 and 12, in 1980. He allegedly shot them while they were bird hunting and attempted to conceal their bodies.
Both confessed their crimes to family members. Alice admitted to her youngest child, Erica Hayes, that she had killed Holtz, and her son Todd Scott testified that Alice had also told him about the murder. Gerald's confession came shortly before his arrest. Alice was convicted of second-degree murder in 2014 and died in prison in June 2019. Gerald pleaded guilty to all three murders and was sentenced to life in prison in 2013, where he remains.
