More than 20 years after Gerald Geake vanished, police have arrested and charged Kevin Wade Moroz, 54, with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Authorities now believe Geake is deceased. The charges stem from serious assaults Geake allegedly endured shortly before he was last seen leaving his Edmonton residence in May 2002. He departed in a black GMC Sierra pickup truck with Moroz and another person and has not been seen by friends or family since. Geake was officially reported missing in 2003, at which time he was 37 years old. Police are seeking information from anyone who may have seen the truck or known Geake in the Avonmore neighborhood around the time of his disappearance. Scientific advancements and re-interviewing witnesses have contributed to this breakthrough in the historical crimes investigation. Moroz has a prior criminal history, including a conditional sentence for aggravated assault in 2002 involving a hammer attack while under the influence of crack cocaine.
