Summary
- Suspect caught weaving traffic and doing wheelies while disqualified.
- E-bike was thrown off a bridge into the River Usk.
- Received 12-month sentence and three-and-a-half-year driving ban.

A 32-year-old man, already disqualified from driving, led police on a chase through Newport on June 30. He was observed riding a Sur-Ron e-bike erratically, weaving through traffic and performing wheelies. The National Police Air Service tracked his movements from above, capturing the entire incident. Authorities deployed a stinger device, but the suspect continued his flight, even picking up his bike after it was disabled.
His pursuit concluded when he threw the e-bike off a bridge into the River Usk in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. Despite this action, police had extensive aerial footage of his dangerous driving and the bike disposal. The suspect, identified as Owen Pendree, subsequently pleaded guilty to charges including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and using a vehicle without insurance at Newport Magistrates' Court. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and received a three-and-a-half-year driving ban, with authorities emphasizing that discarding evidence did not alter the outcome.
