A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Tirupur first additional district court for murdering his friend. The victim, Prabhu, 25, was killed on January 13, 2009, following a dispute over a 7,000 debt. The two men, both originally from Thanjavur district, lived and worked together in a dyeing factory in Veerapandi, Tirupur.
According to reports, the argument over the debt repayment turned violent. The accused allegedly used an iron rod to attack Prabhu, resulting in his immediate death. Following the murder, the perpetrator stole Prabhu's mobile phone and money before disposing of the body in a temple well. Veerapandi police initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused.
