Court Hears "Appalling" Duck Abuse Case
11 Sep
Summary
- Man admitted to intentionally harming three ducks.
- Court called the behavior "appalling" and "never seen this bad."
- RSPCA seeks additional individuals in relation to the incident.

An individual from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to intentionally causing injury to three ducks. The offence, committed under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, resulted in an 18-week suspended prison sentence for two years, handed down on September 7.
Magistrates described the behaviour as "appalling" and noted they had "never seen anything this bad," emphasizing that its publication on social media aggravated the offense. An RSPCA inspector, with 27 years of experience, deemed it one of the most severe deliberate acts of cruelty against defenseless animals he has encountered.
The RSPCA is currently seeking to identify and speak with three additional individuals connected to the incident. This includes a woman believed to have filmed the abuse and another man, for whom an image has been released, who may assist the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA.
