Riad Bouchaker, 52, was convicted in the Central Criminal Court in Dublin of attempting to murder three children and seriously harming their care worker. He was found guilty of attempted murder for stabbing a five-year-old girl in the heart, leaving her with severe disabilities. He also attempted to murder a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl.
The attack ignited significant public disorder, with widespread rioting, looting, and damage to over 60 businesses and 28 vehicles, including 15 official Garda cars. The chaos led to the largest-ever deployment of public-order officers in Dublin. Bouchaker denied all charges, but the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts, including assault and the production of a 36cm kitchen knife.
