DSP's SUV Kills Three in Highway Crash

On Thursday afternoon, a serving Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) from Botad district, A A Saiyad, was involved in a fatal road accident. While returning from Vadodara, Saiyad's SUV allegedly lost control near the Adas bridge on the Vadodara-Ahmedabad highway and crashed into four individuals standing by a sugarcane juice stall. Three people died as a result of the collision, with two succumbing to their injuries immediately at the scene and a third passing away on Friday. Another person sustained serious injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. The victims were originally from Banswara, Rajasthan, and were on a pilgrimage, stopping for a meal. The DySP himself sustained injuries in the accident and revealed his identity to the hotel owner and police after the crash. Authorities have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, with the offence being bailable as the DySP did not flee the scene. He is currently receiving medical treatment in Vadodara, and his statement will be recorded upon recovery.
