Drunk Driver Kills Grandfather in 91mph Crash

In a tragic incident that occurred in November 2022, a drunk driver has been convicted for causing the death of a 63-year-old grandfather in Paisley. Callum Fox, a 29-year-old man, struck and killed Jim Paterson, a father of three and a shipyard worker, as Paterson was walking home from a night out with friends.

According to the details, Fox had been drinking at a cocktail bar in Paisley earlier that night, despite his friends urging him not to drive. Disregarding their pleas, Fox got behind the wheel of his powerful Mercedes AMG A45 and drove to a house party, with a blood alcohol level that was two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

Witnesses reported that Fox was "overtaking at speed" and "swerving all over the road" before the fatal collision. Analysis showed that Fox had reached speeds of up to 91mph on the 30mph road just before the crash, giving Paterson no chance of survival. The impact was so severe that Paterson suffered catastrophic injuries, including fractures to his skull, spine, and sternum, and the loss of his left arm and legs.

Paterson was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving his family and loved ones devastated by the tragic loss. The High Court in Glasgow has now sentenced Fox to a substantial prison term for his reckless and dangerous actions that led to the death of an innocent man.
