A North Carolina man, Austin Harmon, has been sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison following a fatal drunk driving incident. On June 13, 2022, Harmon's vehicle collided with a golf cart carrying seven people near Statesville.
The crash resulted in the tragic deaths of Michael Marlowe, his 5-year-old son Bentley, and 13-year-old daughter Jada. Marlowe's fiancée and their 2-year-old daughter were among those seriously injured in the collision.
Harmon was found guilty on December 15 of three counts of felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired. The court heard testimony about the devastating impact of the crash, with family members expressing their profound loss and Harmon's defense acknowledging his remorse.
