- The victim was at her most vulnerable when the attack occurred.

A delivery driver, Suleman Mukaish, has been sentenced to eight years and three months in prison for the rape of a vulnerable woman. The attack occurred on March 11 in a car park adjacent to Worthing Hospital after the victim had left the facility intoxicated and unsteady. Mukaish, who was in the UK on a student visa, admitted to the rape at an earlier hearing.
During sentencing at Hove Crown Court, Judge Christine Henson KC emphasized the victim's extreme vulnerability during the assault. The court heard that Mukaish had been apprehended two days after the incident at Gatwick Airport, attempting to travel to Pakistan on a one-way ticket. His defense claimed he stopped to assist the woman, but accepted she lacked the capacity to consent to his actions.
