- Court ordered Rs 27,000 fine to victim's mother.
- Dowry demands included a car and Rs 10 lakh.

A special court in Ghaziabad has sentenced Rahul Agrawal to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the dowry death of his wife, Neha Jaijania. The murder occurred in 2018, within three months of their marriage.
Jaijania was discovered hanging in her rented Indirapuram accommodation. Her mother accused Agrawal and his parents of torturing her daughter for dowry, including demands for a car and Rs 10 lakh. Police registered a case and subsequently filed a chargesheet only against Agrawal.
During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence suggesting harassment over dowry demands. The defense denied the allegations, claiming a love marriage with cordial relations. However, the court found Agrawal guilty after noting the death occurred shortly after marriage and the accused failed to rebut the charges.
Agrawal received three years for cruelty and 20 years for dowry death, with sentences running concurrently. The court also recommended departmental action against an investigator for allegedly botching the probe.
